Method of porosity estimation from high resolution CT scan images

In this research, the porosity of core samples is determined from CT scan images with single scanning using many techniques, such as segmentation techniques or image digitalising, and compared with routine core analysis results. A total of 31 full diameter core samples taken from Cuu Long Basin, Nam Con Son basin and Song Hong Basin have been CT scanned and analysed. These samples have porosity ranging from 11% to 40.9%, and permeability ranging from 0.002mD to 1.373mD. The results show values of the grayscale point of each group of stones and the empirical correlations to determine porosity for all cores.
