Oil family classification of oils/condensates from Nam Con Son basin
Abstract
This paper presents the results of identifying oil families in the Nam Con Son basin based on geochemical data collected from 46 oil/condensate samples of 30 wells in blocks 04, 05, 06, 07, 11 and 12. Oils/condensates in the Nam Con Son basin can be classified into three families: oil D family generated from organic matter which was deposited in fluvial - deltaic environment, oil C family generated from lacustrine algal organic matter which was deposited in lacustrine environment and mixed oil family containing the biomarkers similar to both oil families mentioned above.
