Study on the feasibility of investing in an FCC manufacturing plant in Vietnam
Abstract
Fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) is the process to convert high-boiling, high-molecular weight hydrocarbon fractions into more valuable gasoline, olefinic gases, and other products. This paper evaluates the feasibility to invest in an FCC manufacturing plant for the purpose of being more active in production and optimising catalytic species to suit the needs of each refinery, saving foreign currency and improving the efficiency of domestic raw material utilisation. Based on the criteria of product markets, raw materials, technology, capacity scale, total investment cost and financial effectiveness, the investment in construction of an FCC manufacturing plant in Vietnam is feasible. The authors have proposed a roadmap of investment when the conditions for technology transfer or co-operation from FCC manufacturing companies in the world are achieved.
