Assessment of occupational health and diseases in Vietnam’s oil and gas industry
Abstract
This study aims to generally assess the occupational health of employees in Vietnam’s oil and gas industry in relation to their specific workplace conditions. The research results show that the employees’ health in the petroleum industry differentiates by age and seniority. Among occupational diseases, deafness is the most concerned one in the industry. Noise, temperature, illumination, poison gas/vapour, and wind speed are considered the common adverse factors that directly affect employees’ health and increase the risk of contracting occupational diseases. On that basis, the authors propose a number of measures to prevent and minimise the risk to occupational health as well as make recommendations for improvement of the effectiveness of occupational health management task in the oil and gas industry of Vietnam.
