Characterisation of petroleum systems in the Southwestern margin of Malay - Tho Chu basin, offshore Vietnam
Abstract
Results of recent explorations found hydrocarbon accumulation in Lower Miocene sediments at the C-1X well, approx. 50km northeast of Song Doc productive field, and have confirmed the active petroleum systems in the southwestern margin of the Malay - Tho Chu basin in Vietnam.
The paper presents research results on the characteristics of the petroleum systems in the investigated area, including factors such as source rocks, reservoirs, seals, migration and traps on the basis of integrated cutting sample analysis from the C-1X well in combination with regional geological and geophysical data. The obtained results contribute to a better understanding of the petroleum systems in the southwestern margin of Malay-Tho Chu basin, and encourage further exploration activities in this area in the future.
