Some research results on the synthesis and evaluation of the quality of scleroglucan used in the oil industry
Abstract
Scleroglucan is one of the few biopolymers which are studied and used for enhanced oil recovery. It is produced in lab by fermentation of the fungal strain Sclerotium rolfsii isolated in nature. The biopolymer product obtained has good properties, i.e. viscosity, salt-tolerance, resistance to pH changes, and especially a thermostability up to 120oC, which are found to be eff ective in enhanced oil recovery.
