Sequence stratigraphy and depositional environment of Oligocene - Early Miocene sediments of Te Giac Trang structure, block 16-1 in Cuu Long basin based on the characteristics of palynology and palynofacies
Abstract
The biostratigraphy studies of Early Miocene - Oligocene sediments of Block 16-1 in Cuu Long basin showed that the sedimentary material was mainly deposited in river delta and freshwater lacustrine environment, and sometimes influ- enced by brackish water or transitional environment until the sea began entering this area in the last period of Early Miocene, marked by Rotalid bed. The sequence stratigraphic division and depositional environment determination in this period are mainly based on palynomorph assemblages and palynofacies, using CycloLog software to provide accurate and detailed division of the sequence stratigraphic boundaries.
