Abstract

For fields with water injection, attention should be paid to elements that forecast oil/gas/water production and well/reservoir/field pressure, especially the inter-well connectivity in order to make appropriate decisions in operation and production optimisation. Beside the specialised tools currently being utilised (such as numerical simulation models and decline curve analysis), the authors propose integrating improved capacitive resistance and Gentil fractional flow equations (ICRMIP-G) to evaluate the interaction of injection wells with production wells and that of the bottom/marginal aquifer with the production wells, thereby forecasting the total oil production for the research subject. The ICRMIP-G model applied to forecast cumulative oil production in 21 months for the Lower Miocene formation of the Cuu Long basin with low relative error (< 8%) has proven its feasibility when giving high reliable results.
